Color Scanning, Color Correcting & Image Retouching

Color Scanning, Color Correcting, & Image Retouching

At Holland Litho we make color look good! Years of experience and the best technology available have helped develop a reputation for being able to make images look their very best. Our expertise goes so far that even other printers come to us for color!

Color Scanning
Holland Litho 4-color scans are all done on high-end drum scanners capable of reproducing and sometimes enhancing detail in the original. Images are evaluated to determine the appropriate resolution for the application. Enough to maximize the image detail, but not more than will actually be used in the finished product. All scanners are capable of producing even more resolution than necessary, but most don’t capture the level of detail our high end drum scanner is capable of capturing. This is one of the most overlooked areas in preparing files for print. If you have good prints or transparencies of your image, and your images are important to your promotion, we strongly suggest talking to us about having us scan them.

Color Correcting
Yes, everyone has the tools to do this themselves. No, it’s not always as simple as going into “curves” and pulling down a little magenta. Conversions from rgb to cmyk are not automatic, even with the best conversion profiles. Digital photography is not necessarily “ready to go”. We work with some of the best Photographers, helping them convert and correct their images before they are submitted to the graphic designer. Our color technicians use the best tools available to achieve the best results possible with your scanned images. For some images, it may mean using several of the tools available and some images may require isolating certain areas. We do not rely on our computer screen to judge color.  We use experience, percentages, color references, and our calibrated proofing systems to determine color. We've spent many thousands of dollars on proofing hardware and software to help ensure color accuracy. If your images are important to your promotional material, and you are supplying them electronically, we suggest talking to us about checking and possibly editing them.

Image Retouching
For those hard to do outlines, shadows, and retouching projects, our operators have the skill to produce images that will make the best impression!

For the best printing value in commercial printing!
