Green printing: Focus on UV inks

In the summer of 2017, we added a full size full color press with ultraviolet (UV) capabilities. We thought you might be interested in the many benefits of UV ink.

Ultraviolet (UV) inks come in a liquid form and turn to solid once exposed to UV light. This eco-friendly ink is applied the same way as conventional ink during the printing process, but once it passes under the light it dries within seconds. Nothing to evaporate!

With UV ink, ultraviolet rays from a light source quickly activate and start a cure process to harden the ink. UV ink is an instant cure (dry) process: no dry time!

UV inks can be successfully applied to both flexible and hard surfaces, and because they’re UV inks, they’re actually weather resistant, which makes them ideal for packaging and long term outdoor use.

Finally, UV ink is more durable, is better for printing on synthetic stock and has the highest gloss coating available.
