It's Holland Litho's 60th Anniversary!
Ah, 1957. Eisenhower was just beginning his second term. Television was still new with the classics: Gunsmoke, I Love Lucy, Jack Paar and Ed Sullivan. Elvis Presley was all the rage with Jail House Rock. In the midst of all of this, HLPS was launched.
The company remained very small and modest until the early 80s, when Jerry Baarman bought it from its original founder. it evolved into a prepress shop, back when film, light tables and vacuum frames were all the rage. Jerry transformed the company by investing in state-of-the-art (for its time) software and hardware such as Scitex workstations and drum scanners. These cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and couldn't touch what Adobe Creative Suite can do today.
Eventually, as this portion of the industry was absorbed on location at various printing companies, we expanded into the print and bindery industry ourselves and began offering services such as mailing.
Today, we've invested heavily in digital and offset presses, prepress and finishing. We thought we might tip our hats to the original vision that founded Holland Litho. Those early graphic arts pioneers forged the way and gave us a foundation upon which to build.
Here's our 60th anniversary celebration flyer:
