HLPS Prints ADDY Best of Show Piece!

We're proud to report that a piece we helped produce for CAT Footwear (Wolverine World Wide) was honored with both BEST OF SHOW ADDY and Gold ADDY awards in the local West Michigan competition. It now moves on to the national level.

The piece - titled "The Urban Dark West" was designed by Erin Waineo of Traverse City, Michigan. It was shot in Brooklyn. The designers themselves singled out Holland Litho in a post to a design blog:

"We had a very tight production schedule for this magazine. Great communication between the designer, printer and client is critical in producing a quality piece. Because of the tight deadline we weren't able to get enough of our first paper choice in time so we had to quickly make a decision on a new paper. Holland Litho and Central Michigan Paper were extremely helpful in guiding us in a new direction... we are very happy with the paper and the finished piece."

A very tight timeline was required - which made things extra-challenging, due to the fact that the images are very dark and saturated - and the uncoated paper used has 100% Post Consumer Waste content. (Enviro100Print by Rolland) We executed our normal plate compensation for uncoated stock - but gave a little extra bump in the shadow end of the curve - to help keep the imagery open when hitting the very absorbent stock.
