These enclosure sizes are industry standard and were determined without machine inserting in mind. For example, they work for return cards and envelopes where only one is inserted at a time.
When you have dozens or hundreds of these to assemble, our Mailing Department can do the hand inserting for you. In this scenario, the piece you want inserted needs to be 1/4” narrower than the opening of the enclosing envelope and 1/8” shorter. In some instances that's slightly bigger than the industry-standard enclosure sizes listed below.
If you need to have thousands of these assembled, you will want to have our Mailing Department machine insert the enclosure(s) into each envelope with our automated equipment. In this case, the pieces to be inserted need to be 1/2” narrower than the opening of the enclosing envelope and 1/8” shorter. If the pieces are too large or too thick, hand inserting will be necessary and additional cost may apply if quoted with machine automation.
